- - What are you thinking about? Dimitris asked her. - Oh, a few things. - You should only be thinking about one. - I know… She had no idea of how things would turn out but here she was. She was sitting, between his legs, on the couch with hers stretched towards the lighted fireplace. True was lying on the floor underneath her and was enjoying her cuddles. She was drinking a cup of hot chocolate and he was enjoying a cup of coffee. It was such a lovely and relaxing morning. They were at their own little world.
- When George returned from his business trip everything was going really well between them. She was excited and really enjoyed their time together. And then about a month later he received his cousin’s wedding invitation. He asked her to join him. She said yes. It was a simple discussion. He didn’t put any thought into it. He considered this as a simple, normal thing to do. So a couple of weeks later, on a Saturday evening he was waiting for her to get ready. She walked towards him while at the same time she was putting on her black velvet cape with a matching pair of elbow high gloves. She was wearing a turtle-neck, sleeveless, white coverall, in an ancient Greek style. Her accessories were gold. She wore her hair high and had light make-up on with a vibrant red lipstick. Besides his parents and siblings, no one had met Ariadne, and since it was the first time that he’d brought someone to such a family gathering, she didn’t pass unnoticed. She was very polite with everyone, and allowed him a lot of space to interact with his friends and other family members. The truth is that she wanted to maintain a low profile so that George would handle all questions and looks as good as possible. She had actually made it all through the wedding, since she was spending a lot of time chatting with his sister and his brother in law. So some people were still having question marks as to who she really was. But this lasted only up until the wedding reception. Ariadne was an excellent dancer, as she was a natural and had attended from time to time a variety of dance lessons from ballet, when she was younger, to Latin and ballroom, and was able and trained to follow the lead of her partner. The couple had decided to honor the older guests with music that was more to their likings. So at some point the hall filled with sounds of tango and waltz. His father got very excited and after dancing with his wife he walked towards Ariadne and told her “will you honor me with this dance? I may not be young but this is my kind of dance so I can be a really good partner.” She smiled and accepted. He led her to the dance floor and gently took her by the waist. She placed her hands perfectly on him and followed his lead to a classic tango. A waltz followed, halfway through they were interrupted by George. “Can I have my date back now, dad?” he said. She looked at him full of surprise “are you going to dance a waltz with me?” she asked him. “Don’t look so surprised, dad taught me how a long time ago”, he answered and took her in his arms. They danced lively and she was really enjoying it. At the end of the dance he gave her a long deep kiss to thank her. From that point onwards they had to face the difficult question, “so when are you two getting married?”. The first one to ask was his sister their response was to look at each other but with completely different looks. She looked at him with excitement and he looked at her with a warm look but nothing more. Then he turned to his sister and said “who knows what the future brings”. It was in the moment of that answer that he allowed himself to start doubting about their relationship and to where it was leading. Nothing changed in her behavior, a lot changed in his. He distanced himself. She allowed it. The more space she gave him, the more she took. Time went by with their relationship lingering. All this time, Dimitris was patiently waiting and about 4 months later he got his chance to step up and show her that he was worth to be with. They both had to travel to Sweden in order to attend the European championship for track and field. He went as a couch, she went for public relations reasons since the company that she was working for was the basic sponsor of the national team. They travelled together, stayed at the same hotel and spent a lot of time together. She had told George that this was his time to think, she wouldn’t try to contact him but she wanted an answer by the time she got back. She didn’t want a yes or a no to the question “will you marry me?”. She simply wanted to know if they were together or if he wanted out. Dimitris could tell that there was something wrong all this time, but could not exactly tell what. He tried to get her to talk about it but she kept her distance. He had decided to find out during the trip, something that proved to be more difficult than he expected. Their schedule was filled with entirely different activities. It was the night before his athlete’s main event that he saw her walking into the hotel’s lobby after a night out with other sponsors that they managed to talk. He was sitting at the bar and called her on her cell. - You look amazing. He told her when she picked up. - Where are you? - I’m sitting at the bar and admiring you. - Ok, let me take a turn so that you can see me completely. She said and took a slow turn around herself. - Are you tired? - A bit. - Can you handle one more drink? - Yes. She said. And walked towards him. - What do you want? - Bailey’s please. - A Bailey’s for the lady and I will have another one of this, he told to the waiter and gave him his empty glass. - Are you stressed for tomorrow? - A bit. - Don’t be I’m sure he will be great. - I hope. After a moment of silence he said. So do you want to tell me what is wrong? She looked at him filled with surprise. She didn’t give him all the details, she just told him that things had changed with George and that she was very disappointed and that she believed that George had decided to break up with her but didn’t have the guts to tell her. He only listened. He didn’t try to make a move on her. He was very polite when she tears started showing up on her eyes. He followed her to her room to offer her the privacy she needed as she was breaking. He held her in his arms. He never tried to take advantage of the situation. He slept with her, allowing her to feel the comfort she needed. It was the first time he saw her like this. He appreciated that she let him and didn’t shut him out. The next day he left early for the morning meetings and trainings. He called her later to make sure that she was ok. When they met at the stadium he maintained his professional posture towards her only to whisper in her ear “I’m here” as they greeted each other. His athlete came in first and the whole team had a reason to celebrate. She stayed with them for some time but then said that she didn’t feel well and excused herself. After some time he also left the party and went to her room. - Hi, he said. - Hi, she answered with relief and let him in. - I wanted it to be you. - Who did you think it was? - I was afraid that someone from the party would come to try to get me to join you. - No, don’t worry. How are you feeling today? - It doesn’t get better. Tonight is our last night here and he still hasn’t called. So I guess this means that we are over. - I am here. He said and held her in his arms. The next morning they all met at the lobby, they were scheduled to leave that afternoon and Ariadne and Dimitris decided to spend the day in the city. Since no one had to follow a specific protocol, unlike when they were getting to the games, they decided to spend time openly together. They took a walk at the city; she knew the city very well from her previous visits so she showed him a few sites. He held her hand; they took pictures, bought souvenirs, had fun, and had a semi romantic lunch. They had an amazing time. By the time they got to the hotel to leave they were very comfortable with each other. She had seen a side of him that fascinated him. When they boarded the plane he sat next to her. - Are you always like that or only when I am sad? - Always when I am with you. I can’t tell you that this is how it is going to be all the time. But I can promise you that this is how it is going to be all of the time. I get you Ariadne and you are one of the few people who get me. This is something I want to hold on to. When they got back to Athens she was surprised to see George waiting for her at the airport. Dimitris was also surprised but he didn’t show it. - Are you ok, he asked her as he could see her not moving towards George. - I don’t know, she told him. - Listen if you want me to I can drive you home, you don’t have to go with him. - I think it is better if I go with him. Listen to what he has to say. - If you need anything, call me. - Ok I will, she answered and without putting any thought into it, she turned and kissed him lightly on the lips. She walked towards George and greeted him. He never saw that kiss, she made sure of that. He took her bag and her hand and led her to the car. On the way they were both silent. When they got at her place she asked him if he was coming up with her. “I’m not sure”, he answered, “I just didn’t want you to come back and to have no one waiting for you. I think I need more time. I can’t tell how much more. I don’t know what is happening to me. I want you but…” She didn’t wait for him to finish his phrase. She got out of the car, took her bag from the trunk and walked away. When she got in her home she had a shower and emptied he suitcase. She put some new set of clothes, enough for 5 days, wore her sports pants and a sweater. She went by her friend’s house to pick True up and drove to Dimitri’s house. - Are you ok? - Can I stay here for a couple of days? She asked him. - Yes, of course. He answered and took her bag. I was just about to have dinner do you want some? - Yes please. Where should I leave my bag? - Unpack it in my room. There are hangers in the closet. - Thank you. She answered. I don’t want to take advantage of your hospitality. - It’s ok. He answered. They had their dinner and then he made the couch. “I’ll sleep here tonight”, he said, “I think you need some time to yourself”. She nodded and closed the door as she wanted to change into her PJs. She took her phone and sent a message to George “since you let the decision making process to me… you have 3 days to get your staff from my house. I will arrange it with your sister when to come by your place to pick up mine, so that you won’t be there. I wish you all the best for your future.” She shut down her phone and looked at the closed door. She stood up and walked towards it. She opened it slowly and walked towards the couch. Dimitris was sound asleep. She lifted his covers and tried to fit next to him. He woke up “what’s wrong?” he asked her. “Nothing, as long as I am lying next to you” she answered. He looked deep into her eyes trying to reach her soul. The only light came from outside and this had as a result all of their senses to be in alert. “Kiss me” she whispered. To his ears it was as if she shouted it. He approached her and touched her lightly. Every inch of her skin felt that touch. He took his time touching and feeling her skin. When his lips reached hers it was like an explosion took place. There was no more patience, no more holding back, no more doubts. He grabbed her and pulled her onto him. She was not on top of him. He took her blouse off. He pulled her towards his lips as he wanted to taste her breasts. He couldn’t stand not having the control. He stood up and carried her to his bedroom. He took his clothes off fast and slowly the rest of hers. She opened her legs as he laid on her. He tasted every inch of her body. He didn’t let her take over, not even to give him the pleasure she wanted. He wanted this night to be hers. He gave her all the kisses she wanted, he licked her and he touched her in ways she was never touched and kissed before. When he slide into her it was as if they were finally ready to realize that they were meant for each other. As he went back and forth he kept telling her “stay forever”, “be with me”, “love me as I love you”, “I’m yours”. And as he was climaxing he could feel her tremble around him. A few months later she was sitting, between his legs, on the couch with hers stretched towards the lighted fireplace. True was lying on the floor underneath her and was enjoying her cuddles. She was drinking a cup of hot chocolate and he was enjoying a cup of coffee. It was such a lovely and relaxing morning. They were at their own little world. - What are you thinking about? Dimitris asked her. - Oh, a few things. - You should only be thinking about one. He told her while rubbing her belly which had just started to show. - I know… She told him.
